When 2013 Ambassador Avery was diagnosed with a brain tumor, her mom was her biggest support. Now 12 and two years post-treatment, Avery shares her sweet letter to her mom for Mother’s Day.

Thank you for teaching me how to sew, taking me to piano and helping me when I had cancer. You are the best mom in the world.

Mother’s Day Without My Baby

Motherhood is a sweet privilege.

Having a child with cancer is a cruel torture.

My daily reality: Being “that” mother who lost her child to cancer.

Four years ago, during the latter stages of Jordan’s cancer treatments for alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, our family was invited to be the PGA’s special guests at “The Players” Championship Golf Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida.

That would be my last Mother’s Day with Jordan.
