St. Baldrick’s shavee Stephen Woodward celebrates $8 Million in donations in 2013 so far!

St. Baldrick’s shavee Stephen Woodward is happy to help us announce that $8 million has been raised to conquer childhood cancers!

Stephen is part of the PartnerRe team, a leading international reinsurance group, but is shaving his head as a virtual shavee on March 23 in Zurich, Switzerland! That’s right, St. Baldrick’s is ‘headed’ to Switzerland!

Over the last 11 years, PartnerRe employees have raised more than $1.3 million for childhood cancer research.  As one of St. Baldrick’s corporate partners, the company has gone above and beyond to support St. Baldrick’s, ranking as the fourth highest fundraising team in 2012 and is the childhood cancer foundation’s largest matching gift partner.

Stephen is excited to shave but does not consider his sacrifice of hair an act of bravery. He writes:

“I have been surprised by the number of people who tell me they consider that what I am doing is brave…Bravery is what I see on the St. Baldrick’s website, the smiles from kids who may have painful months and years ahead of them, if not worse. But if people want to see what I am doing as bravery, a sacrifice, if you will, then maybe this is something we should explore…”
