Since 2004, the Triangle area St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events have raised over $6.8 million for childhood cancer research!

More than 52 Raleigh-area events took place in 2013, in honor of local children with cancer, survivors, and those who have passed away.

Since 2006, Raleigh has been home to two of the most successful St. Baldrick’s events: Napper Tandy’s and the Hibernian Pubs. Combined, these two events have raised nearly $3 million dollars for childhood cancer research and shaved more than 5,000 heads. This year, the owners of both pubs are joining forces to create the Glenwood South St. Baldrick’s Event.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has funded over $127 million in childhood cancer research grants, more than any other organization except the U.S. government. Many of these grants fund research in North Carolina, including research at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center, UNC Children’s Hospital, and other local children’s hospitals. These grants help give more kids access to clinical trials (often their best hope for a cure), train the next generation of pediatric oncologists, and fund specific childhood cancer research projects.
