How do I sign up to participate as a shavee?

We're so glad you asked! It's SO easy. Just click here and choose how you'd like to participate. You can be a shavee, volunteer, barber, or Volunteer Event Organizer. Our website will walk you through the registration process, and you'll soon be on your way to a fun and rewarding experience – raising much-needed funds for childhood cancer research and having an amazing time while doing it. If you'd prefer to sign up by phone, just call 888.899.BALD (2253).

Is there a St. Baldrick's event near me?

St. Baldrick's events are taking place across the United States and around the globe! Search now to find a location near you. Don't see one? Events are added all the time, so please check frequently! Contact us to find out if an event is in the planning stages, or to inquire about organizing an event.

If you cannot find an event in your area (or you are unable to make it to your local event), you can still participate in the Virtual Event. When you register for the Virtual Event, you get to set a date for the big shave and then kick-off your fundraising by collecting donations from friends, family and co-workers. You can get your head shaved at a local salon or the place of your choosing. Friends and family recognize your sacrifice, and you get to be a part of the greater St. Baldrick's family!

Does it cost anything to participate?

No, it does not cost anything to participate. However, we encourage all participants to support the work of St. Baldrick’s by raising as much money as they can for childhood cancer research. Participants who raise at least $50 will get a St. Baldrick’s t-shirt at their event. You'll be surprised how many people will donate to see you with a shaved head – and how generous they’ll be once you tell them what it's for.

How do I reset my username and password?

Click on the "Forgot Username or Password" button on the sign in page and follow the instructions. You will receive your username or instructions on how to reset your password at the email address we have on file for you. If you do not receive an email within 30 minutes, please call 888.899.BALD (2253), and we'll be happy to help you get signed in.

If you typically sign in through Facebook, St. Baldrick’s will not have a username and password on file for you. You’ll need to sign in using your Facebook login credentials. If you’d prefer to have a username and password created, please contact us at ShaveeHelp@StBaldricks.org.

How do I join or start a team?

If you haven't yet registered to be a shavee, simply fill out the shavee registration form, and you will be provided with the option to join or start a team. If you've already registered, sign in to your Members Area and click "Manage My Participation." You can then either click to "Join" or "Create" a team. More FAQs on teams here.

How do I update my fundraising goal on my page?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password and click on the blue "View and Edit Your Page" button. Here you can edit your fundraising goal, change your website message, and more!

How do I honor a kid on my page?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password and click "Manage My Participation." Click on the "Honored Kids" tab on the left side of the page. Here you’ll be able to choose one (or many!) of the amazingly brave kids to honor through your participation.

How do I add a "before" and "after" photo to my page?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password. Once signed in, click on the blue "View and Edit Your Page" button. This will take you to your fundraising where you can edit your "before" and "after" photos. Just click the gray dot below the photo to toggle between "before" and "after" photos. Once you click "change before/after photo", you will be able to select photos from your computer to upload.

How do I connect my St. Baldrick’s account to my Facebook account?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password and click the profile icon at the top of the page and then "Preferences." On the right-hand side of the page, you can click "Connect with Facebook". You will be prompted with a pop-up window to log in to your Facebook account, where you can then connect it to our St. Baldrick’s Facebook application. Now you can share your St. Baldrick’s participant page on your Facebook page!

How do I move my shavee registration to another event?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password and click on "View and Edit Your Page" from your personal dashboard. Click on your event name and a pop-up to search for another event will appear. You can then choose the new event that you would like to participate in. If you have any further questions about editing your registration, please call 888.899.BALD (2253).

How do I delete my shavee registration? Or duplicate registrations?

Give us a call at 888.899.BALD (2253) to delete your registration.

Will I have the same shavee ID number as I did last year?

You will be provided with a new six-digit participant ID number every year that you are with St. Baldrick’s. This helps us to keep track of all of your hard work.

Can babies or toddlers be shaved?

Because St. Baldrick’s wants to ensure that all participants are safe at every event, we ask that individuals are at least 3 years of age to participate as a shavee. Any children of this age must get shorn under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Additionally, all participants under the age of 18 are required to turn in a Participant Agreement form signed by their parent or legal guardian prior to shaving.

Do I need to be Irish to participate?

Of course not! St. Baldrick's events are frequently held in Irish pubs, and everyone is welcome to attend and participate! Events are also held at restaurants, schools, malls, festivals, and more. In 2017, St. Baldrick's events were held in eleven different countries outside of the United States including Hong Kong, Bermuda, Germany, and Singapore!

Do I need to know someone with childhood cancer to participate?

No. In fact, we hope no one in your life has had to face childhood cancer. You don't have to be directly affected to care about these amazing kids and families, and to do what you can to help find cures. We encourage all participants to personalize their experience by choosing to honor one of these young heroes on their fundraising page. Find out more about Honored Kids here.

What are some different ways to fundraise?

We’re so glad you asked! Check out our Shavee Tips page, as well as our Resource Lounge, for tools like our 4-week guide and sample social media posts to help you become a superstar shavee.

Think Like a Fundraiser:

  • Give the first gift to get the ball rolling and inspire others.
  • Ask away! And ask often. Sometimes your friends need reminders.
  • Set a goal and timeline. The sooner you create momentum, the more money you will raise!
  • Thank your donors after they’ve given! After all, we couldn’t do this without them!
Make it Personal:
  • Spread the word by sharing your St. Baldrick’s page on social media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, you name it!
  • Personalize a message on your St. Baldrick’s page and tell people why you got involved.
  • Honor a child with cancer. If you don’t know a child, browse the Honored Kids profiles on our website and choose one who inspires you, then share their stories with your donors!
  • Post your photos. Share your success with your friends and family.
Go the Extra Mile:
  • Recruit friends to participate with you. Teams are awesome!
  • Double your gifts! Ask donors to see if their employers have a matching gift program.
How do I email my page to supporters?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password and then click "Manage My Participation." You will then have the option to share your participant page with your family and friends, by clicking "Share on Facebook" or "Share on Twitter." Another option is to copy and paste your participant page URL link into an email and share it with anyone you’d like!

How do I find out who my donors are?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password and click the white gift box icon in the top-right corner of the page. This will direct you to a list of your donors, with the option of thanking them via email. Their contact information is also available to you by clicking the “Download All” button, opening the information in an Excel spreadsheet.

I started a fundraiser on Facebook. Why aren’t those donations on my shavee page?

All donations made through Facebook fundraisers go directly to the St. Baldrick’s general donation fund. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer donations received through Facebook to participants, teams, events or other pages. If you have further questions about your donation, please email DonationQuestions@StBaldricks.org.

I didn't receive a shavee packet. Was my packet mailed?

Your shavee packet should arrive about a week after registering online. If you do not receive a packet within two weeks of registering, please feel free to contact us at 888.899.BALD (2253) or ShaveeHelp@StBaldricks.org. If you sign up less than two weeks prior to your event, you will not receive a shavee packet. Instead, refer to fundraising tips in the Resource Lounge, use the Submit Cash feature online for cash donations, and bring any collected checks to your event.

Does it cost anything to attend a St. Baldrick's head-shaving event?

Attendance at St. Baldrick's events is always free, and nearly all are open to the public. Feel free to invite anyone and everyone – the more, the merrier!

What time am I shaving at my event?

If your event has a schedule for head shaving, your VEO (volunteer event organizer) will contact you a few days prior to your event to let you know. Look for these messages in the Communicate section of your Members Area page. If you have any questions about the schedule or timing for the day of your event, be sure to contact your VEO directly. Their contact information is listed on your personal Dashboard, as well as the event page.

Do I have to shave my head completely bald?

Shavees do shave their heads. However, we understand that a buzzed head isn’t for everyone. We have many other options for those who don’t want a little off the top. Click here to see all of the other ways you can get involved with St. Baldrick’s.

Can I donate my hair? What do you do with the hair that's been shaved?

We don’t collect hair donations, but volunteers are welcome to shave their heads at St. Baldrick’s events and donate their hair to another organization. If you would like to donate your hair, please let your Volunteer Event Organizer and barber know before your event. For more information on how you can donate your hair, check out this blog post.

How long does it take for my donations that I turned in at the event to be posted on my participant page?

Donations will appear on your page depending on when the Foundation receives your event proceeds, which can vary by event. Donations made by check will post online approximately 2 weeks after receiving the proceeds from the organizer or treasurer. Cash donations take 3-4 weeks to be processed and posted online. Please be patient; we’re processing millions of dollars in just a few short months, and we want to get it right! How do I get a St. Baldrick’s t-shirt?

All registered participants who raise at least $50 will be given a commemorative St. Baldrick’s t-shirt at their event.

The event I attended ran out of t-shirts. How do I request one?

We want to make sure that our participants who raise at least $50 are recognized for their efforts with a St. Baldrick’s shirt! If you filled out an After Event T-Shirt Request Form at your event, St. Baldrick’s will mail you a t-shirt. If you didn't complete this form, please contact us at 888.899.BALD (2253) for assistance.

What is the virtual event?

If you want to shave your head but are unable to make it to your local event, or there isn't an event close to you, don't worry – you can still shave those locks in support of childhood cancer research! All you need to do is sign up for the virtual event. When you register, you get to set a date for your big shave, start collecting donations from friends, family, and co-workers, and get your head shaved at a local salon or the place of your choosing. We’ll be sending virtual high fives your way!

As a virtual shavee, how do I select the location, time, and date that I will shave my head?

Just can virtually do it all and choose the date, time, and location that works best for you! Many of our virtual shavees choose to shave at a local salon, family gathering, or in the privacy of their own home. When you choose your details, share this information by customizing your web page. You’ll be able to update your display name, shave date and time directly on your page. Edit your details by signing into your Members Area and clicking on the blue "View and Edit Your Page" button.

What if I need to change my shave date or time for my virtual event?

You are free to do so! You can edit your date by signing into your Members Area and clicking on the blue "View and Edit Your Page" button, you will be able to update your display name, shave date, and shave time directly on your fundrasing page.

How do I form a team for my virtual event?

At this time, virtual shavees can only join an existing team at another event, but cannot create one.
