Barbers

What should I bring with me to the event? Does the St. Baldrick's Foundation provide a tax write-off for barbers who volunteer their services? Are we allowed to use a razor if a shavee requests a clean shave? Do barbers receive a t-shirt? What is the license body and license number, and why is it required to register? My mom buzzes my head, but isn't a barber, can she be the barber for the event?

What should I bring with me to the event?

Bring a photocopy of your cosmetology or barber license to give to your barber coordinator or shavee recruiter. Also, please bring along clippers, an extension cord, combs, hand mirrors, sanitation supplies, and an extra cape. In addition, you may also need scissors and elastic hair rubber bands for any shavees who wish to donate their hair.

Does the St. Baldrick's Foundation provide a tax write-off for barbers who volunteer their services?

Yes, we do! Please fill out the In-Kind Donation Form and a letter stating your average hourly pay, and turn it in to your event treasurer. St. Baldrick's will issue you a tax receipt for your services!

Are we allowed to use a razor if a shavee requests a clean shave?

No. St. Baldrick’s policy prohibits the use of any blade razors at the event. In addition, depilatories, cutting, dyeing or shaving of any animals, and hair dyeing, coloring, bleaching, waxing, and threading are strictly prohibited.

Do barbers receive a t-shirt?

All registered volunteer barbers receive a commemorative t-shirt at the event.

What is the license body and license number, and why is it required to register?

The licensing body and license number refer to the institution that issued your barber or cosmetology license and the number on that license. By law, we need to ensure that only licensed barbers and cosmetologists are shaving heads at St. Baldrick's events.

My mom buzzes my head, but isn't a barber, can she be the barber for the event?

By law, only barbers or cosmetologists licensed in the event state can shave heads at public St. Baldrick's events. Mom is more than welcome to be your barber when you shave virtually at home!
