We did it! The 46 Mommas shaved for the brave!!

When my daughter Annika was diagnosed with cancer on 2/7/09 I didn't know that she was 1 of 46 amazing children. I just knew she was amazing.

Each weekday in the US another 46 kids are diagnosed. Annika is a survivor, but each year more than 2300 children in the US die from childhood cancer. Though I was aware of childhood cancer before it affected our family, it took my daughter's fight to make me an advocate. Now I want to do anything I can to let cancer know we won't take it lying down.I don't want any more mamas to hear a doctor say, "your child has cancer." Shaving my head is a dramatic statement, but nothing is more dramatic than the pain I felt when Annika's life was at risk, and the treatments were almost as dangerous as the disease she faced. It is an honor to help St. Baldrick's (the largest non-profit sponsor of childhood cancer research grants) in their quest to conquer childhood cancer!

I would like my bald head to make a real impact! The more I raise, better. All donations, small and large, are meaningful. Pediatric oncology research is terribly under funded, and cancer is the leading of death by disease among U.S. children. Our 46 Mommas Campaign has a goal is $1,000,000.00!!

And, please help me raise awareness of childhood cancer and the need for pediatric-specific research. You can learn more about the issue at People Against Childhood Cancer http://curechildhoodcancer.ning.com. St. Baldrick's is a member of this community that is made up of individuals and foundations who wish to advocate for childhood cancer awareness. United voices, raised together, are more likely to be heard! Awareness leads to funding, which leads to research, which leads to cures.

I have been inspired by too many children during our family's odyssey with cancer, I will proudly go bald to honor them. I'd love your support.
