Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

North Canton Racquet Club

The Canton St. Baldrick's Event was started by the mother and aunt of Abbey Foltz.

Abbey was first diagnosed with cancer in 1996 at the age of 14.  Abbey was incredible tap dancer, had a smile that could light up a room, and could make any situation fun. In her final days of August of 2000, she remained full of grace, faith-filled and was able to show those around her how to love hard, even if it hurt.

For all who lost Abbey, St. Baldrick’s was a way of doing something, at a time when we felt so helpless.  It became a way to remember Abbey, to take comfort in one another and to keep her wonderful memory alive.

What our event has turned into, 21 years later, is a message of hope to families affected by childhood cancer.  A loud and powerful message to these amazing families, that tells them that they are not alone.  It’s turned into an event FOR kids, BY kids.  It has become a way of empowering our young people to make a difference to kids just like themselves.

After being "virtual" for the past 2 years, this year, we're back to our LIVE EVENT! We'll have live head-shaving AND Do What You Want fundraising.  DWYW-ers will have a special space at our event to share and show off what they've done to help raise money for St. Baldrick's.  Be sure to follow our Facebook page for the most up  to date information.

We will have a live head shaving stage as well as a “Do What You Want (DWYW)” challenge stage. The head-shaving stage will be set up just as it has in years past, with stools and barbers at the ready for all of the Brave Baldies! Shavees will be able to select their shave time via our St. Baldrick’s webpage soon.

The DWYW stage will be an exciting new addition this year. DWYW fundraisers will be able to select a short time slot for the stage. Here they can display, discuss, present, perform, or finish a DWYW fundraising challenge in front of friends and family. The use of the DWYW stage is not a requirement, but rather another opportunity to share fundraising successes. DWYW stage sign up times will be available with a sign up link set via email starting in February.

Join this St. Baldrick's event, and whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or donate, we hope you'll be a part of the excitement! The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Get involved and you'll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers!

During the pandemic, kids were still being diagnosed with cancer, but donations to support research have been down drastically. We can change that – and save lives!

We can help the biggest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants do more to speed up the search for cures.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
