Types of Events

There are countless ways to bring your community together in support of childhood cancer research, but our primary event types fall into one of three categories:

  • Head-Shaving and Hair-Trimming

Our signature community events where barbers, stylists, and volunteers gathering to shave heads and trim hair.

  • Athletic Events

Fundraise while combining runs or walks, sports and games with events like home run derbies, soccer clinics, or beach volleyball tournaments.

  • Other Events

Your imagination’s the limit. Host a gala, pub trivia night, holiday party, crafts fair — however you want to bring your community together to raise money to help fund childhood cancer research.

Here’s How it Works

  • A volunteer planning a St. Baldrick's event

    STEP 1

    Tell us about your event

Send us an Event Inquiry and receive access to a St. Baldrick’s Special Events staff member. Ask us questions, customize your page, and gather your Core Volunteer Committee!

  • Volunteers promoting and recruiting for a St. Baldrick's fundraiser

    STEP 2

    Promote, Recruit, & Fundraise!

Get the word out on social media, send out emails far and wide, and share your passion for the cause. Inspire others to donate and be a part of our mission.

  • Participants and volunteers hosting a St. Baldrick's event

    STEP 3

    Host your event

Talk with your St. Baldrick’s Special Events staff member to brainstorm, prep for your fundraiser, and make the day stress-free.

What is a Volunteer Event Organizer?

Volunteer Event Organizers (VEOs) are dedicated individuals like teachers, students, leaders, and employees who take the lead in planning St. Baldrick’s events. You’ll manage the event, connect with your coach, and motivate participants. But you won’t do it alone! Your Core Committee and the St. Baldrick’s team are here to support you with tools, resources, and guidance every step of the way.

Hear it From a VEO

  • Volunteers at a St. Baldrick's community event VEO Sarah Butler

"Surround yourself with a great core committee that share the same event goals."

  • Students at a St. Baldrick's K-12 event VEO Carson Peck

"My event coach is an invaluable asset — she patiently walked me through the entire process, reminding me when various things needed to be done."

Frequently Asked Questions

What information will we cover in our initial call?

We are excited to get to know you and learn about why you’re inspired to get involved! We'll start by answering any questions you may have about St. Baldrick's mission or our fundraising opportunities. We'll also briefly run through our event planning process including your Core Committee and fundraising goals to help set you up for success!

How long does it take to organize an event?

We suggest at least 2 months of lead time prior to event date to help you organize and reach out to possible participants.

Volunteer Event Organizer – That's you! You’ll be planning and overseeing the event as well as maintaining regular communication with your coach and participants.

Second Treasurer – Works in conjunction with the Lead Treasurer.

Shavee Recruiter – Goes out in the community to recruit others to get involved with St. Baldrick's and communicates with past/current shavees to keep them engaged and motivated about their fundraising.

Recognition Coordinator – Extends appreciation to volunteers for their fundraising efforts and donation of time on event day.

How often should I expect to talk to my coach?

Communication is key to a successful event! Plan to stay in touch with your event coach on a weekly basis. They are your most valuable resource!

What materials does St. Baldrick's supply?
