Madison survived a harrowing ordeal when diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in her chest cavity in 2013. She endured extended chemotherapy sessions, surgery to remove the tumor, and while being treated contracted West Nile Virus and was in a coma for a month. In the first year of her diagnosis, she spent over 140 nights in the hospital, was unable to go to school her junior year in high school, and faced countless hours of time in the ICU.
Despite the difficulties of the diagnosis and treatment Madison remained positive and a light to others. She battled every day and did so with grace and poise. When her surgery and treatment were complete, she went back to high school and was valedictorian, she completed an 18 month mission for her church, she has graduated from college, and accomplished a childhood dream to be married to the man of her dreams.
Madi has been the biggest supporter of St. Baldricks over the last 10 years as the stylist for my cuts. We have raised almost $100,000 in fund raising as a result of her enthusiasm and energy.
Madi never complains and is always seeing the glass half full. She lives life to its fullest and suffers from FOMO in all things…she always wants to be involved in everything. Madi is a true miracle and a joy to be around. A fund in her honor is appropriate – she is a true example of making it through the storm and living life to the fullest on the other side.
