The Story Behind This Hero Fund

Friends for Hope Hero Fund initially started with one family’s experience with childhood cancer after being welcomed into a club that they never would have wanted to be a part of by some very kind leaders in their local childhood cancer community. From there the action to make a positive change grew exponentially over time. Friends for Hope, at its core, is truly a collaborative of those touched by childhood cancer and their extended support systems.

Morgan’s family started this Hero Fund shortly after she finished treatment, but only because they were introduced to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation mission by Abbey’s friends and family at the Canton, Ohio head-shaving event.

Through friendships, connections, and bonds formed, even more families came together and another event was formed in memory of Emily and Wilson in Alliance, Ohio.

It is through those joined forces, and extended support systems, that this Hero Fund became about much more than one family and their child. It is about many kids and their families. It is about forging ahead to create purpose out of seemingly meaningless suffering. It is about those that continue to be introduced to a world where kids get cancer. More importantly, it is about every single one of those that are touched by the number one disease killer of children. Healing and positive change can occur when groups of people come together.

This is about all of those friends that see an injustice and create hope through action.
