Welcome to the 46 Mommas Page!
Each weekday in the United States 46 mothers are told that their child has cancer. The 46 Mommas represent all mothers who make the cancer journey with their child. Comprised of 46 women from across the U.S., with different backgrounds, beliefs and lifestyles; there is one thing that they have in common --- childhood cancer.
In 2010, our inaugural team took the name 46 Mommas Shave for the Brave and established a fundraising goal of $1 million for The St. Baldrick's Foundation. Each year, a new class of 46 Mommas is inducted into the cause to empower and engage mothers of children with cancer. Our 2010 Mommas shaved in California and were proud to stand on stage as part of the nationally televised Stand Up to Cancer telethon.
On September 21, 2011, our second team of mommas shaved during rush hour in Washington, DC's Union Station. DC also offered the Mommas the opportunity to advocate for pediatric cancer legislation on Capitol Hill. The Mommas met with various members of Congress and advocated for the Creating Hope Act at the Second Annual Childhood Cancer Summit.
Our third annual shave will be at the Westfield Century City Mall in Los Angeles, CA on July 29th, 2012. The 2012 team is forming and we need you to join us in the fight. Hair grows back, kids don't!
We are excited to open up the 46 Mommas campaign to anyone who wants to support our effort! You can join an event near you, or set up your own 46 Mommas event! In addition to raising $1 million for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, we hope to continue to raise awareness about kids' cancer and childhood cancer research. You can be a part of the the campaign and Shave for the Brave in your own backyard!
No matter where they shave, BALD MOMS ROCK! What about 46 grandmas, 46 survivors, or 46 friends? Everyone can make a difference. Help us make a highly-visible difference and Conquer Kids' Cancer!
