“Here is what I’ve received through my involvement with St. Baldrick’s: The incredible gift of watching people, literally give a piece of themselves, to help my child and others like him. It is humbling and it is awe-inspiring to witness.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be recognized as an Honored Kid?

Any child or young adult impacted by childhood cancer can be recognized as an Honored Kid. This includes:

  • Currently in treatment
  • Between treatments or not currently in care
  • Awaiting treatment
  • Newly diagnosed and not yet treated
  • In remission or have no evidence of disease (NED)
  • Being remembered after passing
  • Living outside the U.S.
What info do you ask for?

We'll ask for:

  • Your name, contact info, and relation to the child
  • Your child's birthday, diagnosis, and treatment details
  • Where they were treated
  • An optional photo, video, and message to share on their page
Do I need to re-register an Honored Kid every year?

No. Each honored kid's page is carried over from year to year. To make any updates, sign in to your Members Area and click "Dashboard" at the top. Select your child's name under "Kids" to be taken to your kid's page where you will be able to edit all the details directly on the page.

How do I honor a child as a participant?

Sign in to your Members Area with your username and password. Click the blue "View and Edit My Page" button. Scroll down to the section called "St. Baldrick's Kids" and click the pencil icon next to it. You will be able to search and select the child you would like to honor.

Can I still honor a child without a profile?

The child must first be registered through the St. Baldrick's website. Any friend or a legal guardian can register the child by going to Sign Up an Honored Kid. Before the child's profile is made active, the St. Baldrick's Foundation will need a signed Honored Kids Agreement from the child's legal guardian. Instructions on how to submit the agreement will be sent in a registration confirmation email. Once the child's page has been activated, you can honor the child through your event, fundraiser, team, or participant (shavee or volunteer) page. Please note that only the event organizer, team captain, or participant can connect a child to the respective pages. If you want to honor a kid who is not currently registered on the St. Baldrick’s website, you may list his or her first name in your personal website message.

Does the Honored Kid receive the funds?

The money raised does not go to the Honored Kid directly. Grant funds are distributed to institutions for laboratory research and to help make clinical trials available to more kids than ever, providing treatment that offers the best chance for a cure. Fellows and Scholars are funded to encourage the best and brightest doctors to pursue careers in childhood cancer research. Your support truly makes a difference for all kids with cancer!
