I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Melting Pot for Cancer

I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Melting Pot for Cancer

So I start my 7th year as the team captain for a wonderful St. Baldrick's team called Melting Pot for Cancer.  This team was started in 2013 with only myself and 3 other team members and has had as many as 16 members over the years.  I want to say thank you to each person who has been on this team in the past, and thank you to the team members that are participating and fund raising this year!

Additionally, I want to thank each and every person who has shared my page or donated over the past many years.  Over the past 6 years I have raised $31,968, and as a team, we have raised $113,547.  That is absolutely amazing and is overwhelming to think about and I am so proud of what this small team has accomplished in such a short amount of time.

I have been very slow to put my page together this year and realize that in just 2 weeks, one of the largest Denver events will be held.  The last 3 months has truly been the most challenging since I started in Pediatric Oncology 11 years ago.   Not only did I have a patient pass away unexpectedly that had a very high chance of cure, I also had a mom of another patient pass away due to severe grief of losing her child to a horrific disease.  I have worked hard these past 3 months to remember that due to the money raised for St. Baldrick's, we have been able to find and implement new treatment options for many of our patients.  I have patients that had extra time with their family, patients that have graduated from college and started a family and patients that live their life with such passion, you would never know they were ever sick.  With that said, we still need to continue to raise money for new research with the hopes of curing every type of Pediatric Cancer.  My hope is to never shed another tear due to those patients we can not cure but to celebrate all the lives that will be saved!  Thank you for your continued support for an organization that is so dear to my heart!!!
