Root Out Childhood Cancer

We helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

Thank you to all my generous friends who contributed to my 93 day streak to Root Out Childhood Cancer.  Your generosity put this over goal and with friends like you behind them, every child will #DFYchildhoodcancers!  Thank you!

Did you know every 2 minutes somewhere in the world, a child is diagnosed with cancer?  That fact motivates me to swallow my vanity and embrace the abundance of gray hairs that seem to be sprouting on my head every 2 minutes!   Why has the hair around my face skipped the gray phase and gone straight to white?  Such mysteries of the universe I can live with.

I cannot live with the fact that 1 in 5 kids in high income countries like the U.S, and 4 in 5 kids worldwide still die of cancer in 2020. It's no secret the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted 2020 fundraising for lifesaving childhood cancer research.  Unfortunately, cancer is not taking time off, kids are still being diagnosed and kids are still dying of cancer, everyday.  While we work together to overcome Coronavirus, my goal is to ensure the childhood cancer research pipeline also survives it.  Kids with cancer count upon research for better, more humane treatments to live long, healthy lives and thrive.

I know times are tough. I only ask you to please give what you can to help me "Root Out Childhood Cancer," or join me by dedicating your roots to the cause and raising funds for lifesaving research too. St. Baldrick's wouldn't be anywhere without the professional barbers and stylists who donate their time and talents to ensure St. Baldrick's shavees look good post shave!  Since most of them are unable to work right now, I will not dye my hair until my stylist can reopen her salon.

I'm on day 74 without hair color, so until I dye again, every new strand of gray  that appears, I will dedicate to a child who is in the fight of his or her life.  Please read about my young friends on this page who inspire me every day, and join me to #DFYchildhoodCancers together.

Thank you for your generosity!
