I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I'm shaving my head with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers in Support of Ben's Green Drakkoman Hero Fund.

My son Ben was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2006. He had just turned 6. He battled for 3 years with incredible grace, hope, and humor. We made many memories during that time. He loved St Baldricks. His twin brother and I shaved our heads as part of a St Baldricks event for the first time at an event in March of 2007. Ben was an inpatient at the hospital when we did it. After the event, we went straight to the hospital and there was such joy as Ben laughed when he saw us. I have participated every year and James has only missed a couple of years.

Ben's Green Drakkoman Hero Fund was set up at St Baldricks to honor him and allow funding to be directed to research that we choose. We tend to focus on osteosarcoma and childhood cancers that impact children we have met throughout the years. One boy is cancer-free as a result of participating in one of the trials that St. Baldricks funded and Ben's Hero Fund supported.

Thank you for your support of our mission to find better treatments for childhood cancers.
