This Thursday, I’ll be getting “a haircut for Children’s Cancer Research.” A small sacrifice, considering all the miles walked, ran, biked and swam over the years for many great causes. But this one, seems just a little bit closer to the people it’s benefiting. Sadly, every one of us has seen the devastation of cancer; to the person and all the loved ones around them.
My family had a wonderful twelve-year-old niece named Labri, and I’m very sorry to say, had. She was truly a ray of sunshine; you couldn’t help but smile when she entered the room with her own cheerful and infectious smile. But in May 2007, she and her parents learned she had a highly aggressive cancer, Brainstem Glioma, diagnosed most often in children and young adults. By October 27th, God called her home. Early on, she said to her Mom, 'Why me?' but … she came to the conclusion that God must be doing something wonderful with my life,' and Labri inspired many with her incredible courage and strength of caring for others.
