Why am I doing this? When I was in college, I was part of a group of students called Care for Kids who went twice a week to Sunrise Hospital to spend time, read to and play with kids who were there for treatment. Many of them where terminally ill. I remember the joy they would have in their eyes when we showed up, the celebration when they got to go home but I more remember the sadness when we would arrive and one of the kids was lost to cancer, we had to keep a strong face but inside it hurt. When I heard about St. Baldrick's 4 years ago, it reminded me of those days, the joy of being there and seeing the ones who got better and went home but also the sadness for the ones who lost the fight. For those kids and for all who are fighting today, that's why I'm doing this.
I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.
Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
