I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Joseph

I am joining with Team Joseph which was formed by my son, Joseph Burken. Joseph is 6 years old (almost 7) and was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in July of 2011. Since that time he has done nothing but amaze me. He completed 8-1/2 rounds of chemo over an 18 month period and had multiple tests, MRI’s and hospital stays. Through it all, he has been a real inspiration with his positive attitude and giving heart. Last year, a St. Baldricks team was formed in his honor. When he learned of the team, he wanted to join in and have his head shaved to raise money to fight against cancer. Together with all the other participants, we are raising money to help find a cure for childhood cancer for him and kids like him who are truly in the fight for their lives. I am having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with my son and all the kids out there fighting cancer, but more importantly, to find cures. The money that St. Baldricks raises has a direct impact on children like my son Joseph. The treatments that are currently available and those that are yet to be discovered are being made possible with research that is funded by organizations like St. Baldricks. In fact, thanks to a grant from St. Baldricks, Joseph’s oncologist is going to be able to do some amazing research on brain tumors in children like what Joseph has. That gives me comfort knowing that more and more treatments and tools will be available should Joseph ever need more treatment. Who knows, there may even be a cure found for my son. How awesome would that be? So I would appreciate it if you would come along side of Joseph, me and the entire St. Baldricks event and join in the fight for children’s lives. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
