I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Theta Xi

Hello all and thank you for visiting my page. First let me tell you some of the reasons why I'm doing this.

My mother recently battled cancer, and won. Seeing her strength day in and out while she was going through the surgeries and treatments amazed me. Watching her cope with the side effects of all of this, including losing her hair, was such an inspiration to me. This was such a hard thing to go through for my family, despite us all being adults. I have a hard time imagining how it must be for families who have children going through this experience, let alone for the children themselves. The strength that these kids and their families must have is astounding.

To have your childhood robbed from you, or peppered with numerous treatments and surgeries, is a crime in itself. I was fortunate enough to have had a childhood free of such complications as these and this is something that I hope this foundation can give to many in the future. They deserve to have the brightest hope for the future. The money donated here goes toward helping make that ideal into a reality.

My sister is also a major inspiration for my doing this. She participated in this event when her hair was every bit as long as mine is now, possibly longer. She was the first one to make me aware of this organization and the more she spoke about it and how it affected her life the more it made me determined that it was something I wanted to participate in. While I would love to be able to donate money towards this wonderful cause, I sadly have none. So I decided that by shaving my head in solidarity with these children, donating my hair for wigs to be made, and helping raise money for this cause was the way to go for me.

So please, if you can, donate to this cause. No donation is to small. And if, like me, you have none to give, please keep these children in your thoughts and hearts. Thank you for all that you do and for reading this page.

---

You heard it right - I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research!

In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure.

Thank you for your support!
