I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Last year I was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. I had surgery to remove the tumor, and was fortunate to come through that with a good prognosis. I had an ileostomy for six months and during that I had three months of chemotherapy. I’m now in a follow-up process for the next two years where I’ll get PET scans every six months and frequent lab work to monitor my body’s chemistry. All in all I’m a very fortunate guy!

That being said,  why am I shaving my head, and why should you care? Well, some children have a much more challenging time with cancer. Here’s the story behind this charity and its efforts to help…

A challenge among friends 25 years ago has become the largest volunteer movement to Conquer Kids’ Cancer. This year, I’ll join thousands of others to shave my head to raise money for childhood cancer research.

One in five kids diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. won’t survive.  For those who do, more than 96% have severe or life-threatening conditions by the time they are 50.

Each shaved head, every dollar donated, creates a ripple effect of progress for kids with cancer.

Your gift will give kids and their families hope, supporting the best research across the country, through the largest charity funder of childhood cancer research grants, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

Together, let’s give these kids the lifetime they deserve. Thank you for your support!
