St. Agnes Parish Center 2019

It's the 20th year of St Baldrick's and the 17th year of the St Agnes Parish Center Event. Be Be a hero for kids with cancer! Help us find cures for all childhood cancers so every child can survive and live long, healthy lives.

Join the Rockville Centre St. Baldrick's event, and whether you decide to shave your head, chop your ponytail, volunteer, march with us, spread the word or donate, we hope you'll be a part of the effort to save young lives! Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every 2 minutes. Before they turn 20 about 1 in every 285 children in the US will have cancer. Only 4% of US government cancer research funding is allocated specifically to childhood cancer research. Be a part of the hope and quest to find cures for all childhood cancers.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Money raised goes to funds the most-promising, life-saving research and treatments for all childhood cancers--in local Long Island and NY hospitals and cancer centers and in centers around the world. Please visit the St Baldrick's Foundation website and Facebook page for details on impact, grants, research, honored kids and much more info. Your dollars are making an impact in funding the clinical trials and life-saving treatments. Now in it's 20th year, to date, St Baldrick's has now raised over $255 million, provided research grants to over 373 institutions in 29 countries--all started by just 3 local individuals, including RVC resident, John Bender. Every individual, every donation, every bit of help can make a difference. We will keep holding this annual event until all children can be saved and best treatments are found.

The annual RVC Event is a big community, family-friendly, inspiring event--all are welcome to this free event. Head-shaving, ponytail-chopping (of 8' or more do double-duty and donate hair to HairWeShare to be made into wigs for medical patients), inspiring speeches, live music from a great local bands ( Jim McGrath, Palace Trio and others), free food, cash bar, kids' activities, tons of raffles, 50/50 and silent auction, bake sale and much more. Join us  after the RVC St Patrick's Day parade and bring the whole family.

Please see below to donate or participate in honor or in memory of some local child cancer warriors. The event bake sale this year is in memory of 5 year old RVC angel, Gabriella Pellicani, who passed away in October 2018, so please make a donation in her memory and support the bake sale at the event. Also remembering RVC/CA angel Kimi Schroeder (2019) and Mary Ruchalski (2018), as well as several other RVC angels and honoring some special RVC child cancer warriors.
For more info, raffle or bake-sale donations, volunteering as a licensed barber, parade marching info, please contact benderalanna@gmail.com. We can use all donations and help!

Get involved and you'll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers! Your dollars are making a big difference but there is still a long way to go to be able to save every child and find the better treatments so they can all live long, healthy lives.
