I lost my father to cancer right before the beginning of school this year in August 2022. We lost Abby roughly a year before that (Oct. 2021). Her younger sibling is a 6th grader at Princess Anne Middle. Even as an adult, it is tough to think about. Most days are good, but some moments during the day are rough. I cannot imagine being a 6th grader (in middle school of all the places to be) going through the loss of a sibling. As many of you know, our club is a direct fundraiser for our high school team and the staff is 100% volunteer. My father, who was a huge supporter of our wrestling program (some of you may have met him), was very proud of us for structuring our club in such a manner. He would want nothing more than for us to step up as a community and contribute to such a great cause in honor of Abby Furco and her family. We would love to have everyone participate as a club to support this fight against childhood cancer. The event goal is $10,000. The goal is to contribute at least $2,000 as a club.

Wrestlers and families can participate in this event simply by signing up to join the MAT RATS team and attending the PAMS St.Baldrick’s Carnival to Help Conquer Kids’ Cancer on Fri. March 31st at Princess Anne Middle School. Expect a fun-filled event with cool prizes. Better yet, you can sign up to be a SHAVEE to make it more fun. The more the merrier! And of course, DONATIONS are a great way to support the event, even if you cannot attend. Please feel free to pass this link on to your friends. We love the idea of supporting such a great cause together as a group.

Join us by signing up as a Shavee, attending the event or donating to the cause and let’s see who gets the BEST haircut while sporting their Mat Rats t-shirt, all in honor of Abby Furco!
