I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Just over 15 years ago, in the Fall of 2003, I answered a phone call that no one should ever have to receive. You see, I was in Baghdad--a combat zone--and while everyone back home braces for bad news concerning their deployed family members, no one in a combat zone is prepared to hear about a death back home. It was my college roommate and best friend of 20 years calling to tell me he had lost his oldest daughter to cancer. I was helpless to do anything but listen as I heard the strained emotion in his voice, and vowed to dedicate every day to working hard in her memory. As I said, 15 years have gone by, and I now have another opportunity to do something on her behalf. Please help me meet my goal, because if I do, I will also remove the beard I have been growing since the day I retired from the military (nearly 8 years ago.).

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
