Why I'm doing this....
3 years ago this May, I lost somebody very close to me. My stepmother Carolyn lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. When she was first diagnosed, they gave her 3-6 months. She lived 19. When she was moved to hospice, they gave her only a couple days. She lived almost 3 weeks. To say she was a fighter, would be an understatement. It's hard to believe that she has been gone 3 years and not a day goes by that I don't think about her. The sad part is, 3 years later, we seem no closer to a cure.
Watching her body succumb to this painful disease was the most difficult experience of my life. As hard as that was, I couldn't imagine how much worse it must be for a parent to learn their child has been diagnosed with cancer. Families are devastated on a daily basis by this news and the toll it must take o them is unimaginable.
I am participating by shaving my head in solidarity with kids fighting cancer while raising money towards childhood cancer research. I am doing this because I want to make a difference in a child’s life, even if it is a small one. It seems we all have been affected by this disease either one way or another and every dollar towards research helps. In an effort to reach my fundraising goal of $500, I am asking for a $5-$10 dollar donation, you are obviously welcome to donate more, but a small donation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!!!
