I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

Apr 15, 2018 • Time TBD

Event: The Mommas Go to Washington!

At: Mommas go to Washington D.C.

Washington, DC US

I helped to raise money for childhood cancer research

In June of 2008, my son Jaxon was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic hepatoblastoma (liver cancer that had spread to his lungs).  Jaxon, like so many children with cancer, fought his disease with grace and courage, and endured 12 rounds of chemotherapy and 2 liver transplants.  Jaxon spent an extended amount of time in the pediatric intensive care unit on a ventilator, on dialysis, and depending on a feeding tube for nutrition.  My precious blue eyed, blonde haired little man had to learn to walk, talk and eat again.  He still struggles with long term side effects like learning delays, kidney issues, profound hearing loss, and narcolepsy.

For their 9th national event, the 46 Mommas are turning our attention to advocacy and taking our children's stories to Capitol Hill! I will headed to Washington DC on April 15th, 2018 with my 46 Mommas tribe.  Our goal there is to convince members of congress to pass the STAR act, a huge bipartisan effort to provide more federal support to pediatric cancer.  I will be talking to my congressman to make sure he knows Jaxon's story and the story of children I have come to know as a cancer momma and nurse!!!!

Now I need your help!!  I hope you will join me in making a contribution. In honor of Jaxon--or any of the other kids you know who have battled bravely childhood cancer--$1, $5, $100--or whatever other amount suits you. Every penny, every dollar can help put an end to kids like Jaxon battling brutal diseases like hepatoblastoma and other childhood cancer!!!
