I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hi! My name is Deven, and I'm a senior at Alton High School. I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. I believe we should do all the good we can, in all the ways we can, whenever we can.

That's why I've been growing my hair for more than two years, since it was last cut in June, 2014 as part of the Vacation Bible School challenge to raise money for Mission Guatemala and Pennies for Posho in Uganda Africa. We challenged the kids to raise $1,000, and if they did, I"d shave my head. They did it.
This time I'm trying to raise $2,800 ($100 for every month since I last cut my hair) for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

I also hope, after I shave my hair, to donate it to "Wigs for Kids" (www.wigsforkids.org).

If my family history is any indication, I will one day be bald. So I thought, why not grow as much hair as I can now, and do something good with it while I can.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.

Thanks for making a difference in the fight against childhood cancer, and for helping me reach my goal.
