I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Bickerstaff Pediatric Family Center

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Bickerstaff Pediatric Family Center

More than 10 years ago a patient with leukemia commented on how beautiful my hair was. She told me how much she would love to have a wig of my hair and recommended I wear my hair down more instead of pulling it into my usual ponytail. Thus began a decade long tradition of donating hair to Locks of Love. I now count myself lucky to be an almost 5 year cancer survivor. During my cancer journey, I had the "luxury" of not losing my hair. So, I am shaving my head to experience this important cancer rite of passage and to raise money for childhood cancer research that has directly benefitted children at Miller Children's and Women's Hospital in Long Beach where I work. Did you know that kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Also feel free to stop by and cheer me, my family and friends on as they each take a swipe at shaving my head :)
