I am Ivy, I am shaving my head in honor of these strong individuals who fought and survived cancer at a young age.
I am like you. I have never had cancer. I've witnessed cancer tearing families apart. However, I remained a bystander who continued with my life and refused to take part in promoting cancer awareness.
I am like you. I am strong; I can fight cancer like many of these brave children did. I became an advocate to educate people about the difficulties in childhood cancer research.
Currently, only 4% federal funding goes to childhood cancer research. Pharmaceutical companies provide most funding to cancer research, but they couldn't care less since childhood cancer drugs aren't profitable.
Cancer may or may not directly affect you. However, as able bodies and survivors, you have the mission to stand in solidarity with people in need. Children are our future.
Remember, YOU hold the power to transform someone's life and our future.
ANY AMOUNT HELPS!!
In response to the oppositions about head-shaving, I hope my bald head will teach you that beauty does not come from conforming to social standards, while femininity isn't defined by long hair.
