I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Bald is life

Hi there! Friends, family, who ever you are, I'm Karen, and I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! I guess I'm a pretty regular person. I'm a freshman in high school, I play trumpet, and my favorite color is red. I have never donated my hair before. Honestly, the thought of short hair scared me. But then one day, I was watching Lord of The Rings of all things. I remember thinking: "I wish I could be a hero, just these small little hobbits. They can do it, why can't I?" As nerdy as this sounds, it was then when I realized I can do something. An act as small as me giving away my hair can make a huge difference in the life of a child. I was terrified of the idea at first, -the thought of me bald turned knots in my stomach- but this isn't about me. It's about raising awareness for children with cancer, and finding a cure. With every dollar and strand of hair, we are taking one step closer to finding a cure. So I'll say it outright, donate!! Every dollar you can donate for this cause will make a difference, and can change a child's life. I don't know about you, but that sounds pretty heroic to me. -Karen
