I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Acadiana Roller Girls

It was July 2009, seven months since we lost Paw and a year after we lost pop. My cousins, Alissa and Jacques, were expecting their first child, Anna Beth Gaudet, which made my uncle Pat and Aunt Aminthe grandparents. I guess it's true what they say, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away," a phrase that scared me on July 11th 2009, when my dad, Fred Broussard Jr., was diagnosed with cancer in his neck. Whenever we found out I got scared and even upset cause we already lost pop and paw. I thought, "God, why did you let this happen?" Everyone in the whole family pitched to help out with dad and his illness; even Jacques and Uncle Rich volunteered to call on the phone to talk about about an operation. It made me realize how blessed I am to have the support of friends and family. My dad fought as hard as he could. I kept thinking positive every day: He'll beat this. He'll beat this. In the end, even though he did fight as hard as he could, he was taken by cancer. I am thankful for the time we had before the end, but it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with. Because of my experience with my dad, I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research. I don't want anyone to have to go through losing a loved one and being unable to help, the way I did. Kids' cancers are different from adult cancers? It's true. And childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded. So in memory of my dad and knowing he would want to help, I decided to do something about it by raising money for cures. Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers.
