By the time you finish reading this, another child will have been diagnosed with cancer. As the battle against childhood cancer continues so must the fight to fund the research. On May 10, 2014 at Forest Volunteer Fire Department we will be hosting one of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s signature headshaving events, where individuals will come together and shave their heads in solidarity with the 175,000 children worldwide who will be diagnosed with cancer this year, raising funds for much needed childhood cancer research in the process. This event is very special because it is being held in memory of Jake Daniels. Early in 2013 Jake and his fellow firefighters were approached to become “Shavees”. Jake very willingly volunteered to shed his locks to help support this great cause. Unfortunately, we lost Jake in a car accident last year. However, his family, friends and fellow firefighters would like to keep his memory and spirit alive by holding an event to support this battle against childhood cancer. You can be a part of this event and make a difference in the lives of the numerous children suffering with cancer. Whether you become a sponsor, form a team of shavees, or donate a basket for our raffle, you will be part of a memorable and meaningful event which will have an impact on kids with cancer for years to come. Every dollar counts and is much appreciated!
