I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Pre-Juniors

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Pre-Juniors

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research! Do you know why?

Back on September 5, 2000, I was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer that only affects about 200 kids per year. I was fortunate enough that the cancer was localized in my right chest wall, but my prognosis at the time was a 50% chance of survival. After major surgery, 9 months of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of radiation to my chest, 104 overnight stays in the hospital, 130 blood tests, 20 blood transfusions, 11 platelet transfusions, 125 injections, years of follow up and much more, there has been no sign of cancer. You may be thinking that I am fundraising because of what I went through while I was seven years old. However, you were mislead.

I fundraise for the St. Baldrick's Foundation for the other kids who currently are battling with cancer and those who have lost their battle. While going through treatment and going to a camp of cancer patients, I have met so many amazing people. Unfortunately, a lot of the kids that I met along my way did not win their battle. Kids should not become familiar with death this soon in life. It should be the period where they do not have worries, where they can grow and begin the priceless moments they will soon cherish. My sister sent me a video a month ago that I could not have explained any better. Please view the video on the right of the page. Everything that I have experienced during my battle as well as the million of other children is the same thing that the kids in this video discuss. Please help to make a difference!
