Dear Friends & Family,
Over the last several years I have watched my brother in law Trevis selflessly shave his head to raise money for a wonderful charity. This year I have decided to join him in his quest to help find a cure for childhood cancer. I am shaving my head for St. Baldrick's Foundation to raise funds for childhood cancer research. One of the ways St. Baldrick's Foundation raises funds is by hosting head-shaving events, where volunteers shave their heads because kids with cancer often lose their hair during treatment, and we stand proudly bald beside them. But the true goal–to cure childhood cancer–will be accomplished because, while shaving, we raise funds for lifesaving childhood cancer research.
Some cancer facts to think about-in the US there are over 360,000 children with cancer. Cancer is the second leading cause of death for all children 0-14 years of age. Treatment research has helped cut the mortality rate by 66% over the last 40 years in the US giving children hope. This treatment research is largely funded from the generosity of people like you! Until we can find a cure we will still have a need for more research. Since St. Baldrick’s inception in 2000 they have raised over $100 million dollars to fund cancer research with over $33 million being raised in 2012 alone!
Last year the team was able to raise $15,000 and this year we are striving for $20,000.
Please join us at 7 Monks Taproom on March 16th between 10:30 a.m and 1:00 p.m and witness over 20 individuals shaving their heads in support of conquering childhood cancer! This event is family friendly with activities set up for the children as well as a sundae bar with Moomers ice cream (a local favorite)!
Together we can make a difference!
