I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I think this article explains perfectly how and why I first got involved with St. Baldricks. Please read my story and make a donation to help these children. Article written by Dave Van Allen, USPS Newsletter March 23, 2007 Three years ago, Midpark Retail Associate Jim Berardinis stopped visiting the barber. His father was riddled with cancer and Berardinis wanted to do something to honor his father’s life and his memory. He committed himself to growing a full head of hair and donating it to cancer victims. As the hair grew longer, and longer, and longer, people started asking questions. Berardinis explained the reason for the lengthy locks. “My customers thought that what I was doing was excellent.” said Berardinis One customer, Jack Marshall, is a news personality for Cleveland’s Channel 5. He was putting together a news segment to raise awareness about hair donation and St. Baldricks Foundation, whose mission revolves around helping children with cancer. “Three years to the day that my dad passed, Jack came in and asked me if I wanted to have my hair cut on television,” said Berardinis. “I agreed” While the cameras rolled and the razor bussed, reporters joked with Berardinis, telling him no one would recognize him anymore. Berardinis didn’t argue. So, with his three-year-long commitment fulfilled, what’s next for the Midpark Retail Associate? “I’ll probably do it again” he said. Well it’s been 5 years since then its time to do it again… I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids and honor my father. Thank you! Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail.
