I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

This is one of the things that concerns me - there are never enough resources to deal with all of the problems. Almost everyone is facing some issue, and almost everyone knows someone who is dealing with more.

For children with cancer, and their families, that becomes a large part of what they need to deal with, even as other issues do not go away. The opportunities lost, and time lost, cannot be recovered, yet children's cancer research and treatment does not receive the same funding as adult cancers.

So now for an ELEVENTH year we are working with St. Baldrick's to raise funds for cancer research and treatment. I say year after year that this never ends, but we can help families who are going through it now, so there can be a time when their lives are not defined by this disease.

For two decades, it has been my privilege to work with a large number of universities and research hospitals, some of which have investigators specifically focused on treatments for children's cancer, and St. Baldrick's provides the grants that make their efforts possible.

I am once again shaving my head as a way of drawing attention to how these efforts help children and their families through clinical trials other research support, and to show those families that they are not alone.

It never ends, but those who can help, always do what they can to help, and we can make it better. Please join me in making a positive impact.
