I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Bald and Brave

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Bald and Brave

In April 2011, my daughter, Olivia, was diagnosed with stage 4 T-cell Lymphoma.  After enduring 30 months of grueling treatment which no kid should ever have to go through, she reached remission in October 2013.

Being a cancer survivor left its mark.  In 5th grade, Olivia decided to shave her head at a local St. Baldrick’s event for the first time.  Every year since then she has shaved her head to raise money for St. Baldrick’s mission to find cures and improve treatments for pediatric cancer.  Needless to say, we are immensely proud of her courage and dedication to this cause, so in 2019 when she asked if I would her join her effort I jumped on board.

Olivia is a thriving high school senior now, but her experience with childhood cancer during elementary school has made us realize that every day we have with her is a blessing.  We want nothing more than for other families dealing with a child’s cancer diagnosis to get through it all with a happy, healthy kid after treatment ends.

Kids with cancer need our support now more than ever. St. Baldrick’s is the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer research grants, and the pandemic has slashed donations, slowing down the progress to find cures.

Cancer kills more of our kids than any other disease. Research can change that, and I don’t want to let these kids down. Can you help? Thank you so much!
