I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Hi! Thanks for visiting my fundraising site! This year's head shave will be my third one for St. Baldrick's, an organization that has come to mean a lot to me since I first got involved nine years ago.

A lot of people don't think about the importance of funding research for childhood cancer treatment specifically. Hundreds of thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer every year and many of them won't survive. Of the ones who do survive, many will suffer lifelong health problems as a result of the treatments that they undergo. Their little bodies can't tolerate the same treatment that adult bodies can. In the last 20 years, only four new drugs have been approved that were specifically developed to treat children with cancer. Kids with cancer deserve more options and better options and St. Baldrick's is committed to funding research that will bring those about! So I am once again shaving my head to raise both awareness and funds to support them, and to show the kids who lose their hair from treatment that bald is beautiful!

From my shaves in 2012 and 2016, I raised a total of $7,344.00. This year, I have set a goal of raising an additional $3,000.00 for St. Baldrick’s and I hope you can help me achieve that! (*Update* I have since upped my goal to $4,000, then $5,000, and then again to $6,000 after fundraising got off to an amazing start!) I know that it’s been a very difficult year+ for many people, so I don’t want anyone to feel pressured to make large donations (though they are certainly welcome if you want to make them!). Even if you take just two minutes to donate $2.00 that you would otherwise spend on a coffee or something this week, it would mean the world to me and to the kids and families who benefit from the work that St. Baldrick’s does. Every dollar counts! And don’t forget that many employers will match donations that you make—check to see if yours will match your donation to St. Baldrick’s! Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support!
