I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: 46 Mommas Shave for the Brave

It is true..........I am shaving my head in honor of my son Isaac and all the children who have faced this monster....childhood cancer. Our Isaac was your typical 3 year old boy laughing, playing and loving Thomas the Train. It was on October 3rd Isaac told us he needed to go to the hospital. Lance and I thought it was strange that he asked for the hospital as he normally would say he wanted to see his doctor if he was sick. He said his tummy hurt and needed to go to the hospital...so without a fever and no other symptoms we took him to our local ER. They did admit him for dehydration but released him a couple days later. That Thursday night he ran a high fever and could not walk. We took him to see his doctor that Friday morning and she sent us in for blood work and then to the Orthopedics office. From there they sent us to Children's Mercy. That night the ER doctor told us they thought he had leukemia but would not know until Monday when they did a Bone Marrow. On October 9th 2006 a team of doctors came into our room all with a look I will never forget............his oncologist said "I'm so sorry but your son has cancer." Never in my life had I ever felt the pain and helplessness as I felt that moment. The pain we felt as parents that there was nothing we can do to protect our son from the pain he would be facing and the fight of his life. This is why I am shaving my head. On September 30th I will shave my head proudly to raise funds for the research childhood cancer so urgently needs. Please help me to surpass my goal of $2500.00 so that someday all children will be blessed with a cure. Childhood cancer is the least funded of all cancer research. All dollars donated big or small with make a difference in saving the life of a child. Thank you so much for your support. A time and place for my shave on September 30th 2010 will be announced soon!!
