I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

I currently work as a nurse in a clinic for children with cancer. Every day I spend there I am inspired by these children's courage and honored to walk beside them in their fight. Nothing is better than the days we get to sing to a child because they have successfully finished treatment for cancer! Our song to the Oscar Meyer Wiener tune includes the lyrics,

"We love to see you every day, but now it's time to say:
Pack your bags, get out the door,
           You don't need chemo anymore!!"

I want more of those days, and for children who previously had no hope of an "End of Treatment" celebration. So, I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research!

Did you know that kids' cancers are very different from adult cancers? It's true. And child cancer research is extremely underfunded. And yet, due to a single national organization that pools all pediatric cancer research data (Children's Oncology Group), the field of Pediatric Oncology as made great strides towards cures. Many effective protocols have been developed for the most common childhood cancers. And yet still, in the U.S.,

1 out of 5 children diagnosed with cancer will not survive.

Now I need your help! Will you make a donation? Every dollar makes a difference for the thousands of infants, children, teens, and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Help me fund research to make that many more End of Treatment songs possible for children with cancer!
