There are so many things we can do as humans to make a difference in this world. Even the tiniest gestures go a long way and mean the most to people. I was inspired by my cousin who is also doing this. But more than anything I felt a calling from God in my heart to have me be a part of this amazing fundraiser!
Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, 1 in 5 of those will not survive. This is a reality that I just cannot accept. Everyone who knows me can say how obsessed and how much I love my hair! Never in my life did I think I could ever shave my head! Being a woman it’s a little harder going bald than a man. I wish there was so much more I could do to help these families and children. So if shaving my hair off to help fund money for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids, then this is the least I could do! I am honoring two amazing children Keeghan Barry & Erin Louise Fitzgerald.
Keeghan Barry who at the age of 5 wanted to become a marine biologist and find a cure for sharks who had cancer. When Keeghan was 10 he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. He went through 2 surgeries to remove his tumor, 32 radiation treatments, 14 months of chemotherapy and remained tumor free for over a year. Right before Christmas of 2007 they found out the tumor was coming back as a Grade 4 glioblastoma. He left this world August 31,2008 at the age of 12.
Erin Louise Fitzgerald is the second child I have chosen to honor. Erin was an incredible little girl that only got to live 4 1/2 yrs before she left this earth and became an angel. She also had a brain tumor.
No parent should have to go through losing their child to cancer. I can’t imagine being any of these parents to these wonderful angels. But you can make a difference and make a donation to my fundraiser. Being part of this St. Baldricks fundraiser means more to me than anything in the world. We need to find a cure so no more parents have to watch their babies suffer and die.Now I need your support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. Join me today and let’s #DFYchildhoodCancers together.
