I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research

Tana & I are sisters and we are shaving our heads March 13th with St. Baldrick's to raise money and help conquer kids' cancers! Every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 1 in 5 of those in the U.S. will not survive. We refuse to accept this, so we’ve decided to fundraise for lifesaving research to find cures and better treatments for kids.

Ripple effects. I was first introduced to St. Baldrick's by Maricarmen C. in 2014. She was in high school at the time!! I thought shaving her head to raise money was wonderful and incredibly brave. I thought to myself wow, that is amazing because I can give money, but I could never shave my head! But, you just never know how far your ripple effects will reach. That moment has stayed with me. Tana & I also have a nephew (Hayden) that has shaved his head many times for St. Baldrick's! Every time I've watched him do it, I've become more and more drawn to doing it myself. More ripples. Tana & I lost our Dad to lung cancer in 1991. It just so happens, I will be the same age this year (54) as our dad was when he lost his life 30 years ago. That was a light bulb moment for me, and it made me decide I was going to raise money for St. Baldrick's this year. When I told Tana what I was doing, she said she'd do it with me!! So now Maricarmen and Hayden's ripple effects have spread even wider.

Tana and I have been through a lot together, and together I know we can do a lot. We have a choice to shave our heads but some of these kids do not. Their hair is taken from them by treatments with horrible side effects meant to save their lives. Some of these side effects are lifelong!! We want to make a difference for them.

We are asking for your help and support! Your donation can fund research to help kids survive and thrive. We chose to raise $2500 because there is a pandemic going on. We pray we raise even more! A child's life is priceless.

We want to help honor the beautiful souls lost to cancer, the thousands who are in treatment right now, and the survivors who deserve a healthier future after their treatments! St. Baldrick's kids, we hear you! We heart you!❤️

Most sincerely and with much love,

Debbie & Tana
