Event Details

Be a hero for kids with cancer! In India, CanKids…KidsCan-National Society for Change for Childhood Cancer in India has been an international partner with St. Baldrick’s for Shave-a-Thon since 2011!! IHS Markit India has been doing the Shave-a-Thon event under the St. Baldrick’s platform since 2011. Funds raised through the event goes to the CanKids…KidsCan Quality Care Research and Impact Program. The funds are deployed to promote or undertake research in Epidemiology and Access to Care, Disease & Intervention Specific Project and Continuity Care & Supportive Care. All the research is related to the priority areas of childhood cancer in India. In India, anybody suffering from cancer carries a stigma associated with death, resulting in reluctance among people to discuss cancer. To fight this stigma, CanKids…KidsCan is promoting its campaign “Shave-a-Thon ” to show solidarity with children with cancer and their families, giving a clear message that ‘it is okay to be without hair’. This event means a lot because the CanKids mascots are bald: Taklu – the little boy and Takli the little girl. Learn more about CanKids…KidsCan and childhood cancer in India here: www.cankidsindia.org.
