I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Asteria Salon

Hello and thanks for visiting my St. Baldricks page! I've got some exciting news to share with you, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to check it out. So here it is: I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. I know it might sound extreme, but I want to challenge myself to give up something that has literally driven me to find my path, career, self-expression, self-confidence, uniqueness, and overall self worth. As a hair stylist and salon owner, I hear people talk about their wants and needs for their hair everyday--- How important it is that they keep it long, and how their boyfriend doesn't like it curly etc. I find myself looking in the mirror wondering, what if I didn't have the option to keep it long? What if the same treatment that was keeping me alive was also keeping me from feeling beautiful? I don't (and I thank my lucky stars everyday) have cancer, but I want to truly feel what it's like to be without my comfort blanket, my hair. Will people stare? Yes. Will they think I have undergone cancer treatment? Probably. I want to stand up next to all those undergoing cancer treatment/survivors/families who have lost loved ones and say "My hair does not define who I am, I define who I am, Cancer does not define who you are, you define who you are." Join my effort by giving anything that you can. Whether its $1 or $100, every little bit will help me to reach my personal goal of $1000.

This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.

Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!

Click "Make a donation" to give online, or donate by phone or mail. I might not have cancer, and you might not have cancer, but there is a good chance that we know and love someone who does. Research is our only hope!
