Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

National Partner

Team Lukestrong

Team LukeStrong was formed in the fall of 2013 following the diagnosis of our Hero Angel, Luke Baca.  When Luke and his family learned that he had Neuroblastoma, a community of Family, Friends, Doctors and Medical Staff surrounded them with love, prayers and strength.

Our journey with St Baldrick’s Foundation began in the Spring of 2014 when Jason (Luke’s dad), Mark and Matt agreed to shave their heads to raise money for children’s cancer research.   Since then, Team LukeStrong has become a huge presence at the SBF - Alamo event raising over $250,000 and numbering over 50 individual shavees (many repeat participants) plus many many supporters, including a few storm troopers. This effort has allowed Jason and Janelle (Luke’s mom) to set up a Hero Fund in Luke’s honor so that they can direct funding to targeted research opportunities.

Sadly, we lost Luke after a 10 year fight in the summer of 2023.  While he is missed by so many here on Earth, we know that he is at home and pain free with his Lord Jesus Christ.  And despite the loss we feel here on Earth, we will continue to tell Luke’s story, we will continue to fight in his memory to rid this world of these awful diseases.  We hope that you’ll choose to become part of Team LukeStrong and support us as we continue to fight the fight.

Thank you!
