I've updated this message with an email Brendan wrote. It's beautifully done:

Hi everyone,
This month, my dad and I will be taking part in an event for an organization called St. Baldricks. We will be shaving our heads to raise money to help find a cure for childhood cancer. We've done this twice before, and we would love it if you would donate some money to help find a cure. The reason that I feel so strongly about this is for multiple reasons. One, my Aunt Meg died of childhood cancer before my mom was born, so neither I or my mom got to meet her. I also just don't like that there are children out there who know that they most likely won't live for very long, and that marks their days, stops them from fully enjoying the world. I think that if we find a cure for this, those same children will be able to completely enjoy the world and all the joy and wonder it has to offer. I have recently received an email from St. Baldricks that is sent to all people who have participated for three years or more. It said that I have earned a place in the League of Legendary Heroes. I was labeled a Squire of Hope, and I am more than willing to spread some of that hope to children with cancer.
Thanks,
Brendan Moriarty
