Dear Friends,
As our year approaches the month of March, we remember Evan Gates, a very inspirational young man who fought cancer for over a year. Evan Gates was, and still is, a huge inspiration to my brothers, Spencer and Max, and I.
I would like to invite our St. Baldrick's participants from last year back out to this very special event. I would also like to invite new individuals out to the St. Baldrick's fundraiser. For those of you that have not participated in St. Baldrick's, it is a very special event where participants raise money to fund research to find a cure for childhood cancer. Then, on the day of the event we shave our heads.
The act of shaving our heads is symbolic and literal. We shave our heads to show cancer patients are not alone and that they have our support while fighting this terrible disease. While our heads are shaved at the fundraiser there are many inspirational videos played to remember and honor the cancer patients. They announce how much each team raised and then all the money goes to research for the cure to cancer.
The fundraiser this year will take place at St. Albert the Great on March 8, 2014 at 6:00pm. You can shave your head to raise donations or just donate - or both! If you are unable to attend the event you can shave at home. Here is a link to our team page where you can sign up to shave or donate: http://www.stbaldricks.org/teams/mypage/90402/2014.
