This team is in support of a former and very loved Meadows student, Kyler Yelverton, who unfortunately on December 7, 2010 lost his battle with lung cancer. Kyler also known as "Sunshine" and "Ky Ky" was the kind of guy who liked to wear his hair in a fohawk (which was later named Norman), go paint-balling and cracking jokes, even if they were not funny. He was someone anyone could talk to and, also, was the last person you would have expected to have gotten cancer. Not only was he a very healthy and strong soccer player, but also last summer he and his church went to Haiti on a mission trip to help those who had lost their homes. At the start of the school year, he started having knee pains and with a visit to the doctor he found out he had cancer. Despite all the pain, surgery and treatment Kyler's smile never faded and not for one second would he let you believe that cancer would come out on top. Kyler put up a great fight but ultimately God wanted him home. Although Kyler is no longer physically with us, his spirit and legacy live on and continue to influence us today. Kyler has taught us not to let the little things slow us down as well as the best person you can be is yourself. Kyler is my role model and I hope one day everyone can let a little "Sunshine" into their lives.
