Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

Tadhg went to the emergency room August 2015 for stomach pain, only to discover that there was a mass in his abdomen.  After many tests, it was determined that Tadhg had stage four neuroblastoma.  Treatment included 6 rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, 2 stem cell transplants, radiation and immunotherapy.  Tadhg completed his treatment in December 2016.  He had a glorious year off treatment but his one year post treatment scans showed evidence of disease in his bone marrow so Tadhg began therapy again on January 2018.

March 17 is St Patrick’s, a big day in our family’s calendar but instead of watching the parade, Tadhg was finishing Round 4 of immunotherapy and chemotherapy in the hospital. One of the trials, St Baldrick's funded in 2013 is now the treatment protocol that is working so well for Tadhg. We are so grateful for the research they fund.

Declan, Tadhg’s father, braved the shave at their event at UCSF Children's Hospital in Oakland in solidarity with children like Tadhg who must endure toxic treatments in hopes of surviving their cancer. We can do so much better.

John, Tadhg's uncle, is hosting a fundraiser in The Active Club at Hotel Kilkenny in Kilkenny, Ireland on March 29th.  He will be shaving off his hair and beard at 11:15 AM.  There will also be a bake sale and coffee as well as raffle prizes.

Please join them in their efforts to fund more research and awareness by donating and sharing this fundraising page and/or attending the events.

With fierce love, let’s shave for the brave!
