Celebrating 25 Years

It’s that time of year again! When the Chicago river goes green, the shamrock grams are delivered, and I get my head shaved.. That’s right! I will be participating in my 3rd St. Balrdricks Brave the Shave charity event to help raise money for a great cause. The money raised is used to fund childhood cancer research and help the survivors live a long and healthy life, which is the biggest reason why I do this.

Childhood and adulthood cancers have different treatments and not as much research has been done. Also, the childhood cancer drugs aren’t as profitable for pharmaceutical companies which is another reason why so few have been developed (a total of 3). Unfortunately for me this year, I will be participating for a more personal reason. As some of you close to me may know, I am currently awaiting results for testing that is being performed on one of the newest members to my family, my 2 year old nephew David, who recently had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor that was found around the kidney/spinal cord area. So this is my way of making a difference, even if it’s a tiny one, the exponential growth (my sponsors/you guys) is what makes the difference. So $1, $2, $3, or $4, or whatever you can or even just passing on the message to someone else, the fact that you make the choice to help means the world to my family and I, and all of the families that are involved.

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids
