Celebrating 25 Years

St. Baldrick’s started as a grassroots effort 25 years ago, driven by people who believe in helping kids with cancer.

Moriartys of Newtown

Please do take a minute to read this, because this has been an amazing year for Brendan and me, and St. Baldrick's.

At the end of 2025, I received a call from Alex Taylor, the CEO of Cox Enterprises, who told me I was receiving the Anne Cox Chambers award. It's an annual award in his grandmother's name that recognizes Cox employees who "demonstrate outstanding volunteerism and community service."

It's humbling to say the least, but it is about more than me. My name may be on the award, but Brendan was the inspiration, and we could not have done any of this without all of your remarkable generosity. I am thrilled to say that in 13 years we have raised more than $60,000.

If you're reading this and are new to our effort, we do this to honor two children. Brendan's Aunt Meg and Oliver Edson, the son of friends of mine from Holyoke.

Meg was my in-laws' oldest child, and she died at a terribly young age. Meg left an indelible mark on her family and she remains part of her family's lives to this day. Oliver was the son of two friends from Holyoke I had reconnected with Oliver's parents over Facebook and they agreed to let us honor him in 2015. Sadly he passed away in 2016.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude to be able to enter our 14th year raising money for childhood cancer research. We've done this from the start to support research that we hope will one day save families the pain we have seen others manage.

Thank you for taking time to read this and for giving if you're able.

George and Brendan
